DISNEYLAND!!! Jan 28th

I was so incredibly excited the night before we went to Disneyland. Another guest at our motel first visited it into the 50's when it opened and spoke of such wonderful memories.  Sofia kept saying 'Mickey Mouse big house' accompanied with big arm movements.

On seeing Sleeping Beauty's castle, it seemed ..... so much smaller than I expected. I'd always imagined it to be enormous!

Disneyland is huge and we only got to experience a small part but I was happiest seeing the 'original' rides that I've always associated with Disneyland - the Dumbo ride, It's a small world, the Teacup ride etc. They also have the most incredible carrosel which Sofia absolutely loved. I desperately wanted to buy and wear Minnie Mouse ears until Ale reminded me that both Sofia and I already naturally had them. Haha!!!

Sofia almost lost it when she saw Minnie Mouse. She got hugs, photos and kisses. Actually we saw her twice - the second time for tea at her house in Toon Town - another of my favourite parts. It's where all the Disney characters live! You visit their houses ( Mickey and Minnie obviously live beside each other and across the fountain from Donald and Goofy.) It's so cool. We even saw Mickey at his house which was such a great surprise. I don't know who was more excited, Sofia or I. I just played it cool while Sofia stood back looking at him and kept saying 'Mickey Mouse' and smiling. She was soooo happy. Her new discovery is Goofy who we also meet and had photos. I know they are just actors in suits, but my god, it's so exciting to meet them!

Although there are theme parks everywhere, Disneyland does have a magic touch that no one else could ever replicate.
