Although we passed on the kayaking, jet boating and rafting, we still made the most of Taupo's water offerings. A trek alongside the river ended in the magnificant Huka Falls. Gushing water from the wide river squeezes through a narrow rock pass leaving us to admire a dramatic waterfall at the end.
Ale and Sofia cooled down in the icy yet beautifully clear waters of the river where they played 'Up'. This is where Sofia walks up Ale's chest then gets plopped into and swished around in the water. Children really don't have any cold water threshold!
Then we all relaxed in the natural hot springs alongside the river bank. Incredible to simply pop the togs on and sit in water where your left arm is in hot water and your right in cold as the hot spring water mixes with that of the cold river. Yes - we shared this experience with a stack of tourists all squeezed into a small area but this left the uber, uber hot water fall and pool free for me and 2 other people to enjoy!
A great way to end our day.
Sofia che dorme dietro di voi e' splendinda!!!
