From our beautiful 'cloud bed' in Astoria, we slept in a bird sancturary for our first 2 nights in San Fran. Yes. Our own beautifully painted rooms and hallways populated by cranes and swans. Kinda cool and tacky at the same time but I secretly loved it. The paintings on the walls were actually paintings on the walls with frames around them. Hee hee! The sign beside the lifts clearly stated, no more than 3 people at a time or the lift would get stuck. Nice.
Our first motel 'on the road' was something out of a Tarantino movie. You know, when fugitives are on the run, or you need to hide an alien or something equally as strange. It was actually quite comfortable but we did feel like we needed a gun or a couple of prostitutes to complete the picture.
The motels are getting better and Ale is officially in love with 'Hotel 6' and Travel Lodge. Spacious rooms, swimming pools & spas. We've agreed that motels win over hotels. Park outside your door, no lugging bags up lifts...easy-peezy.
